1. Where is Buon Ma Thuot?

2. How is Buon Ma Thuot unique?

3. Origin of the name of Buon Ma Thuot
Buon Ma Thuot is the largest city in the Central Highlands, the capital of the indigenous Ede people. According to legend, the name Buon Ma Thuot originates from the word “Buon” which means small areas in the local language. “Ma Thuot” originates from Mr. Ama Thuot, an indigenous Ede who is the adopted son of the famous H’Dơk family in the region.
According to Ede customs, the family system is matriarchal, the male will have a name starting with the letter ‘Y’ and the female with the letter ‘H’. Ama Thuot’s real name is Y Mun H’Dơk, who was born as the head of the village. Y Mun and his wife had no children or successors, so they adopted their nephew Y Thuột. The name Ama Thuot also started from here.
4. History of formation and development of Buon Ma Thuot
Buon Ma Thuot has a long history, many documents have shown that this land existed very early. From the archaeological perspective, Buon Ma Thuot is at least 4,000 years old. Through ethnic cultural literature has a few hundred years of Buon Ma Thuot and through historical records, up to now Buon Ma Thuot has 105 years of formation and development.

After 1977, they used this building as a guest house and partly as a museum of Vietnamese ethnic cultures in Dak Lak.
7.1.6 Khai Doan Imperial Pagoda
Khai Doan Imperial Pagoda is the largest pagoda in Buon Ma Thuot city and the whole Dak Lak province. Moreover, this is also the first pagoda built in the Central Highlands. The name Khai Doan is a combination of the names of King Khai Dinh and his wife, Queen Mother Doan Huy.
The pagoda was built in 1951 on Phan Boi Chau Street, Buon Ma Thuot city. It was built by Queen Mother Doan Huy, the mother of King Bao Dai. And concubine Mong Diep was directly responsible for managing the construction.
Notably, this is the last pagoda in Vietnam to be granted the imperial title of the feudal regime. 7.7 Buon Don Area
7.7.1 Ancient Stilt House
This stilt house is built in the style of the Lao ethnic stilt house, and is the home of Khun Yu Nob. This is the home of a famous elephant hunter in Ban Don and is known as the elephant king. The house is now over 115 years old and is made entirely of good wood from the old forests of Buon Don such as Huong, Cam Xe, Ca Chit, etc. Most notably, even the roof tiles are meticulously carved by hand from Ca Chit wood.
The house also preserves many mementos about the life and elephant hunting tools of the Ban Don elephant king and his successors. The cost of the house when built was 10 large elephants and took nearly 3 years to complete.
7.7.2 Elephant King Tomb
This is the mausoleum of the family of elephant king Khun Yu Nop. This is a historical figure who has become a legend of the Ban Don region, famous for its tradition of hunting and taming wild elephants. The Elephant King or Khun Yu Nob, is the title given to N’ Thu K’ Nul by the King of Siam (Thailand).
He is considered the founder of Ban Don with the profession of hunting and taming elephants. In addition, the elephant king’s tomb is located in the cemetery complex of Yang Lanh village with tombs decorated with tomb statues, a very typical feature of the Central Highlands culture.
7.7.3 Buon Don Suspension Bridge
Buon Don Suspension Bridge is a primitive suspension bridge made of bamboo and rattan to serve tourism needs and is also the name of a famous tourist destination of Ban Don. The bridge is made of bamboo, rattan, reeds, and rattan reinforced with iron cables. In particular, this bridge is built on a giant ancient banyan tree hundreds of years old, growing along the banks of the Serepok River flowing through Ban Don and covering a small island in the middle of the Serepok River.
The canopy covers an area of over a hectare of land with many roots formed by the secondary roots, making it look very unique. The bridge is about 1 km long, with many harmoniously connected segments. With a wooden resting floor system that is also completely on the tree.

Trohbu Landscape Garden is a beautiful landscape garden in Dak Lak located in Buon Nieng, Ea Nuol commune. “Trohbu” in Ede language means “stream snakehead fish valley” (a type of snakehead fish as small as a knife handle, mole-black, living in rocky streams). Currently, Trohbu is a landscape garden with winding walking paths along the slopes and lake shores. In addition, there is a rich and diverse collection of trees, grass, flowers and wild orchids. The forest fauna has 44 species of animals belonging to 22 families and 17 orders, of which 17 are rare species listed in the Vietnam Red Book. In addition, there are 158 species of birds belonging to 51 families and 15 orders, of which 9 are listed in the Vietnam Red Book. Dray Nur Waterfall is located 25 km from Buon Ma Thuot City following National Highway 14, passing Buon Kuop Hydropower Plant about 3 km. Yang-tao Elephant Rock is a giant monolithic granite rock. It is estimated that Mother Elephant Rock is about 200m long, the circumference at the foot of the rock is about 500m and the height is about 30m. And Elephant Father Rock is smaller in size: about 70m long and about 180m in circumference. Elephant Mother Rock is located at the foot of the mountain, a mountain range belonging to Chu Yang Sin National Park. Elephant Father Rock is about 5km to the south, in the middle of a field.
