5. Sightseeings At Bac Tu Liem District

5.1 Hoa Binh Park

Hoa Binh Park is one of the largest and most beautiful parks in the capital. The park is the pride of the people of the capital because it is a project with the meaning of loving peace. To create a symbol, the capital city decided to build a park called Hoa Binh, covering over 20 hectares. The park was inaugurated on October 8, 2010.

At the North gate, a Lac bird model is built facing the national highway. The design of the Lac bird model together with the lake forms the English word “No War”, creating a special and attractive feature for this park. The symbol honoring Hanoi’s “For Peace” is the image of a mother holding her child on her shoulder with a flock of doves flying behind, 30m high. Tay Tuu flower village is located in Bac Tu Liem district, about 20 km from the center of Hanoi capital. Here, people have been involved in flower growing for hundreds of years, recognized as a traditional craft village in Hanoi and famous for flowers such as gerberas, roses, chrysanthemums, lilies, etc.

If in the past, flowers were only grown in two seasons, Autumn-Winter and Winter-Spring, now Tay Tuu people grow flowers in all four seasons to meet the large demand. However, the best time to visit Tay Tuu flower village is from November to December of the lunar calendar, when the weather is favorable for flowers to bloom most beautifully.

When coming here, visitors will be able to check-in next to colorful flower gardens in the Northern spring weather and admire the bustling scene of farmers in traditional flower fields preparing for the biggest crop of the year. In November, Hanoians also flock to Tay Tuu to see daisies and feel the peaceful, rustic scenery of the suburban countryside

Note: Tay Tuu is a flower growing village, if you want to take photos in the flower garden, don’t forget to ask the garden owner first. Visitors should choose an empty spot to avoid stepping on the flowers.

5.4 Dong Ngac Ancient Communal House

Dong Ngac is one of the most famous ancient villages in Hanoi. Dong Ngac Communal House has existed for more than 500 years. It worships three gods of fortune: Than Doc Cuoc, Le Khoi and Tho Than. The communal house was built based on the shape of a dragon, the outer Tam Quan gate is the dragon’s head, the two round wells are the dragon’s eyes, and the roofs behind are the dragon’s body. Dong Ngac Ancient Communal House has all the good feng shui elements (on the left is a lake, on the right is a rockery).

The interior of Dong Ngac Communal House is very rich with a variety of relics classified as precious. The communal house’s interior also includes: 2 sets of eight treasures, 1 bronze bell cast in 1833, a pair of 2m high worshiping cranes, 1 symbol of a hand holding a brush pen and 1 symbol of a hand holding a fire barrel, 3 dragon thrones, 1 palanquin, 6 horizontal lacquered boards, 24 parallel sentences, dragon pavilion, 1 palanquin carrying the sugar cane god, 2 incense tables, 1 altar, 3 sets of royal costumes. 

Every year, the communal house organizes many festivals in the second lunar month, which are solemn and dignified. On the 9th, there is a rehearsal for the troops, and in the evening, there is a naturalization ceremony. On the 10th, there is an official procession. Visitors can come here to join the villagers in games such as chess, cockfighting, swinging, blindfolded goat catching, poetry, etc.

5.5 Dinh Quan Pagoda

Dinh Quan Pagoda is a long-standing pagoda of Dinh Quan village, Phuc Dien ward, Bac Tu Liem district, Hanoi. People ranked it as a national architectural and artistic relic in 1966. The pagoda was built in the shape of the letter “Dinh”, including Tam Quan, Tam Bao (Bao Dien) followed by two rows of houses for disarming, the ancestor’s house, the Mother’s house and the guest house on the northern side.

The Tam Bao building includes the front hall and the upper hall. The front hall is built in the style of 5 compartments and 2 wings, the roof is covered with fish-tail tiles connected to the upper hall with 4 compartments running along the back. In the middle of the ridge, there is a relief of a vase of cam lo water, and below, a row of lemon flowers is meticulously carved. 

In the middle of the ridge, there are 3 Chinese characters “Phuc Quang Tu”. Inside, there are rafters supporting the roof. The roof is divided according to the “upper three lower four” layout, the floor is paved with square tiles. Behind is the ancestor’s house, the Mother’s house and the guest house.

Up to now, the pagoda still preserves many artifacts of great cultural value: 34 ancient Buddha statues; a system of horizontal lacquered boards and parallel sentences; 13 stone steles, of which 3 record the time of the pagoda’s restoration such as the Quang Hung, Gia Long, and Chinh Hoa years; a large bronze bell cast in the 18th year of Gia Long; the inscription on the stele by Trang Bung Phung Khac Khoan

5.6 Dong Co Temple

Dong Co Temple was previously built on a high mound in Minh Khai ward, Bac Tu Liem district, Hanoi in the “quy xa” shape with a high mound in the middle. The temple is located towards Thang Long citadel, although it has a rather modest campus hidden in a large ancient tree garden, but deep inside are historical and cultural values ​​associated with the Ly dynasty in particular and the history of the nation in general.

After the three-door gate is an elephant kneeling on its front legs, bowing its head on both sides of the screen decorated with a scroll. On both sides are two parallel houses, through the small yard to the two-story, eight-roofed rear palace, the ends of the roofs have curved eaves embossed with dragons. Inside the temple, many precious relics are preserved. Such as a number of high-legged Thanh Hoa porcelain bowls in the 15th century. 4 decorative enamel porcelain items from the 18th and 19th centuries in Hue. A pair of Kangxi vases (18th century). In 1989, Dong Co Temple was ranked as a historical and architectural relic by the Ministry of Culture and Information.

Through many ups and downs of history, the Dong Co – Nguyen Xa temple relic has been wholeheartedly protected and preserved by many generations of local people. The relic is regularly renovated and embellished to make its appearance more and more spacious. Promoting historical and cultural values ​​to educate the tradition of patriotism, towards the roots in the people of this heroic land.

5.7 Chèm Communal House

About 12 km west of the center of Hanoi, Chèm Communal House appears majestically and anciently by the Red River. The communal house was built in the style of internal public and external national architecture. The outer gate is a pillar-shaped gate with four tall and large pillars, the top of the pillars is shaped like lanterns, the body of the pillars is decorated with the four sacred animals, the four seasons and Chinese parallel sentences. 

The inner gate is a house designed with four roofs, three compartments, two wings. The curved roof corners form the ends of the roof and are embossed with dragon heads. And this is also where the statues of the elephant keeper, horses and war elephants and of Duc Thanh are placed.

Currently, Chèm Communal House still preserves a book in Chinese characters recording the funeral orations, rituals and royal decrees of the Nguyen kings. Besides, there are many valuable historical relics such as: steles from the Le Canh Hung and Nguyen dynasties; 10 worship statues, 2 bronze bells cast during the Nguyen Dynasty and 8 parallel sentences and a bronze trough system – rare relics found in other relics.

5.8 Vincom Plaza Bac Tu Liem Shopping Center

Located on the busiest street of Bac Tu Liem District, the magnificent Vincom Plaza Bac Tu Liem is located on a basement floor, connected to the ground by an impressive transparent glass pyramid-shaped entrance gate.
