4. What do you need to prepare for the trip to Fansipan peak?

For those who use the cable car service, there is no need to prepare too much. Just keep your body warm and remember to bring some water and snacks to recharge when needed. However, for those who challenge themselves to climb and conquer Fansipan peak, you need to prepare much more carefully:

  • Backpack: Make sure your backpack is full of necessary items but not more than 5kg.
  • Shoes: Bring specialized hiking shoes, usually sports walking shoes. The quality of a good pair of shoes will support you a lot throughout the trip, protect your feet and avoid unexpected incidents. A small tip is to prepare a stick to reduce fatigue on steep slopes.
  • Socks, Gloves: These items not only keep you warm but also reduce friction during the climb.

On the contrary, if you cannot see Fansipan then the mountain top may be covered in fog, the sky is gloomy, so choose another more suitable time.
  • The ideal time to hunt clouds is from September to March of the following year. If you go from September or October, you should hunt clouds in the morning. If you go in November or December, you should hunt clouds at noon or early afternoon.
  • The time when clouds are most common is after the rain stops, at dawn and dusk. At this time, the temperature drops so the clouds will be more visible.
