Hang Pagoda (also known as Gieng Pagoda) is located in Dong Chua village, Cho Chu town, Dinh Hoa district, Thai Nguyen Province, Vietnam. Hang Pagoda is a historical relic, this was once the residence and working place of President Ho Chi Minh after the Border Campaign in 1950. The festival takes place on the 14th, 15th, and 16th of the first month (lunar calendar) every year.
How Is Hang Pagoda Dinh Hoa Festival Unique?
Hang Pagoda Dinh Hoa Festival in 2 parts:
1. Ceremony:
The main ceremony is also known as Ky Yen ceremony. According to tradition, villagers all go to the pagoda to pray for a year of good rain and wind, and the village will be peaceful, prosperous, and happy. From the evening of 14 to 12:00 on the 15th day of the first lunar month (lunar calendar), 3 people of about 50 years old or older with pure morality and dressed neatly will be appointed to pay homage to the ten directions.
Ceremony trays are usually bananas, oan, and vegetarian offerings made from delicious local sticky rice. And the procession of palanquin procession from Hang Pagoda to Quan De Temple is a very important part. Leading the procession are majestic and colorful teams of lions and dragons. Besides, there is an incense offering ceremony to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh.
2. Festival:
