Ha Giang and Cao Bang loop tour itinerary

Morning Activities:

At 7.30, Leave at hotel in Hanoi in the morning with our guide and driver to Ha Giang Province – the Northern one in Vietnam where is famous for mountain landscapes, terrace fields and flower seasons, etc.

You will travel through Viet Tri and Tuyen Quang or Thai Nguyen provinces before reaching Ha Giang Province.

Have lunch at local food-stall.

Afternoon & Evening Activities:

You continue your trip to Ha Giang. You arrive in Ha Giang and have a make a visiting at Shan Tuyet Tea house of local people to know more of their work in procedure to make tea.

Because Ha Giang still requires a permit, our guide will make the permission at the small office in the town. You will have the admiring beautiful mountain scapes and pass through stunning passes, rolling mountains and valleys.

And then you will travel ahead to Khuoi My Hamlet – Phuong Do Commune to discover the unique Mossy House which created from years of year of local people. Now there is only this village has this type of house. (photo as below)

You also pass through Bac Sum Pass where offer the windy road and give you the wonderful view of mountain.

Arrive in Quan Ba area you will have sightseeing and wonderful photographing en route as you pass over Quan Ba, visit Heaven Gate and Twin Mountain with a great panoramic view over the vast mountain areas.

And then travel to Nam Dam Village. Check in hotel at share homestay. Have dinner with the family and interact with local people to learn more of their culture and lifestyle and overnight at homestay in Nam Dam Village.

Morning Activities:

Discover morning life at the village and can walk around for more experience and enjoyment with the local people.

Have breakfast with the local family.

And then you leave Ha Giang for the small communities of Yen Minh. You will visit Lung Tam Village and Valley which is one of the best view and scenery in Yen Minh with pass though windy road and pass.

Have lunch on the road.

Afternoon & Evening Activities:

Proceed the journey to reach Du Gia village where brings you a peaceful atmosphere and beautiful view before reaching Yen Minh.

When you have time you can spend more time in Du Gia and have more discover of round Yen Minh.

Check in homestay. Have dinner with the family and share with the local family to get more experience of local cultures and customs. Overnight at homestay.

Morning Activities:

Have morning view around the village to get the enjoyment of countryside life. After breakfast at homestay.

This morning you spend 2 hours in the morning to attend the back-date market of local tribal people in Pho Cao.

(If you travel on these date: Dragon and Dog as lunar calender you can visit ethnic Pho Cao market, Pho Cao is crowded each 6 days for 1 time), pay a visit to Sung La valley with ancient H’mong, Dzao and Lo Lo ethnic peoples.

However, today is Cat Date so there is no market crowded in Yen Minh to Dong Van route.

Then drive through Tham Ma pass where can get view and wonderful scenery of road. You can meet Hmong girl in the pass for you to catch photo of child in mountain area.

Next spend an hour visiting the historical site of the Vuong family palace (H’mong King’s Palace) who ruled over the region, control opium production and trading until 1945.

Have lunch at local restaurant.

Afternoon Activities:

You continue the journey and visit Dong Van Rock Plateau to get its special and get more enjoyment of its beauties. Dong Van Plateau is also an area that has seen as an unique and diverse mountainous geo-ecosystem in Ha Giang.

Continue your trip to visit Tam Giac Mach Flower Garden also known as “triangle oat” to enjoy the special flower of Ha Giang on November.

And if time is permit you can conquer Lung Cu Flower Flag is situated at 1,700m above the sea level, at the summit of Rong Mountain where you can touch the north pole of Vietnam and has seen the border with China.

Continue to visit Lo Lo Chai Hmong village right below the foot of Lung Cu flag tower so that have more chance to learn about Hmong people as well as traditional village with its unique beauties.

Next you will continue down the sweeping roads until you arrive in Dong Van late afternoon. Check in hotel.

Evening Activities:

Get around Dong Van ancient town, check in hotel, have dinner at local restaurant. Here is the chance for you to chill out in Dong Van. Interact with local minority people to understand more their life and culture at Dong Van town centre. Overnight at hotel.

Note: If you wish to have authentic atmosphere you can choose to homestay in Lo LO Chai village. Incase you want to see Dong Van Old Town (25km from Lo Lo Chai) you can choose overnight at Dong Van Eco Stone house so that evening can wander around old town at centre (So pls confirm where you would like to overnight at village or in Dong Van Town).

Morning Activities:

Get morning atmosphere at Dong Van town in the early morning for more experience. Have breakfast at local restaurant.

Then this morning our guide and driver welcome you at hotelto leave Dong Van to visit Sunday Dong Van market to get more experience of local life and cultures.

And then drive over the Ma Pi Leng Pass to enjoy its magnificent and spectacular scenery en route, most of the road has been simply cut into the side of a cliff face, the Nho Quy river flows and above, the towering cliff rises to the clouds; a truly beautiful gorge below is one of the most spectacular natural sights in the country.

Take your time and soak it up, as this is one journey to savor! Visit Ma Pi Leng Pass and discover village of the Hmong people set amongst limestone rocks where the highest value of fresh water and cultivating land can be seen evidently.

Also you have chance to have a boat trip on Nho Que River to view the beautiful scenery of mountain area.

Next you travel to Hmong Pa Vi ancient village and discover more of local hill tribe village in Meo Vac – 13km from Ma Pi Leng Pass. This is a chance and harmony yourself into the authentic scenery of a peaceful village.

Have lunch at local restaurant.

Afternoon & Evening Activities:

You continue our journey and sightseeing en route before zigzagging to Cao Bang.

Check in homestay. Have dinner at the homestay. Evening is your free time as your own for experience at the homestay and share something with the family member. Overnight in Cao Bang.

Special note: Special in Ha Giang is “lui” market which will be held every 6 days. The markets normally last from 5.00 till 15.00 – 16.00

Markets held on fixed days include

1. Ma Le Market held every Saturday morning (10km from Dong Van town to northwest)
2. Yen Minh, Dong Van and Meo Vac markets held every Sunday morning.

And The “lui” markets include Lung Phin, Sa Phin, Pho Bang and Pho Cao markets. Here is the schedule of “lui” markets that are only available in Ha Giang:

• Lung Phin market: Tiger Day – Monkey Day.
• Sa Phin market: Snake Day – Pig Day.
• Pho Bang market: Rat Day – Horse Day.
• Pho Cao market: Dragon Day- Dog Day.

Morning Activities:

Have breakfast at the homestay. And now is the full day you spend in Cao Bang for excursion to Ban Gioc Waterfall. Lying on the borderline with China Vietnam each has a half waterfall, Ban Gioc claims to be the best waterfalls in northern Vietnam.

At first you leave Bao Lac and travel ahead to Cao Bang city centre and make pass through Ma Phuc Pass with 3,5 hours on car where is one of the most spectacular pass in North Vietnam.

Continue to visit more Nui Thung Mountain or called Angle Mountain or God Eye Mountain which bring you a great for more experience of local mountain scenery.
You have a picnic lunch.

Afternoon & Evening Activities:

You continue your trip to reach Phong Nam Valley in Trung Khanh to get more discover of the beauties of this valley.

Go on your journey to visit you travel to Gioc Sau Village of Ngoc Khe Commune to  discover the peaceful village with Voc forest (bamboo forest) as well as discover the peaceful scenery in the village and Quay Son River as well as traditional Tay Ethnic people stilt house and learn more of their culture.

Here is also the chance for you to visit Hang Thon (called Thon Cave) – a new cave in Cao Bang to discover its pristine beauties and amazing.

Check in homestay near Ban Gioc.

Have dinner at local restaurant. Overnight at hotel.

Morning Activities:

Have breakfast at hotel. This morning you will raft along the stream and get close-up photos of the fall. For those who love photo shooting Ban Gioc waterfall is a great to take the beautiful scenery.

At the waterfall you can take a bamboo boat to view the beautiful scenery of Ban Gioc waterfall – one of the largest and possibly the most impressive waterfalls of Vietnam.

Next visit Nguom Ngao Cave – visit  the first part of the cave (if you don’t want to visit we can skip it), one of the largest caves in the area. It has many fascinating rock formations decorating the walls and the ceilings which make you amazing for its beauties. 

And then you leave Cao Bang for return Hanoi city. You will have a stopover en route in Lang Son and have Have lunch at local restaurant.

Afternoon & Evening Activities:

You are on the way to transfer you back Hanoi city and spend more 5 hours to reach back your hotel in Hanoi. You arrive in Hanoi in the evening around 19.00.
