Conquer Fansipan peak – Roof of Indochina

Fansipan is located in the Hoang Lien Son mountain range, about 9km from Sapa town center. The mountain has an altitude of 3,143m, is the highest peak in Vietnam and also the “Roof of Indochina“. Each season on Fansipan has its own beauty. However, the most ideal time to climb mountains or visit by cable car is:

  • October – December: Dry weather, clear blue sky, little rain, suitable for trekking.
  • February – April: Azalea flowers bloom brilliantly, creating beautiful scenery on the way to the top.

2. Conquer Fansipan peak

Currently there are 2 ways for tourists to conquer Fansipan mountain peak:

2.1. Trekking Fansipan – A challenge for mountain climbing enthusiasts

Trekking Fansipan is a challenging but also extremely interesting experience. The trip is for those who love adventure. There are the following popular routes:

  • Tram Ton route: The easiest route, takes about 2 days 1 night.
  • Sin Chai route: More difficult, suitable for those with climbing experience.
  • Cat Cat Route: The longest and most challenging route, for those who want a real mountain climbing experience.

2.2. Take the Fansipan cable car – A quick and convenient experience

If you don’t have the skills or health to participate in the trekking tour, visitors can choose the Fansipan cable car to save time and effort. It only takes about 15-20 minutes from Hoang Lien station to near Fansipan peak. After that, you just need to climb 600 more steps or take the funicular to reach the highest landmark in Indochina.

  • Morning: Travel from Sapa to Fansipan cable car station.

  • Afternoon: Return to Sapa, explore the town.
