Currently there are 2 ways for tourists to conquer Fansipan mountain peak:
2.1. Trekking Fansipan – A challenge for mountain climbing enthusiasts
Trekking Fansipan is a challenging but also extremely interesting experience. The trip is for those who love adventure. There are the following popular routes:
- Tram Ton route: The easiest route, takes about 2 days 1 night.
- Sin Chai route: More difficult, suitable for those with climbing experience.
- Cat Cat Route: The longest and most challenging route, for those who want a real mountain climbing experience.
2.2. Take the Fansipan cable car – A quick and convenient experience
If you don’t have the skills or health to participate in the trekking tour, visitors can choose the Fansipan cable car to save time and effort. It only takes about 15-20 minutes from Hoang Lien station to near Fansipan peak. After that, you just need to climb 600 more steps or take the funicular to reach the highest landmark in Indochina.
3. Check-in points that can’t be missed
- Fansipan milestone 3,143m – Marking the roof of Indochina.
- Trinh Pagoda, Great Buddha Statue – Sacred Buddhist structures on the top of the mountain.

4. Suggested itinerary to conquer Fansipan
Trekking itinerary 2 days 1 night
- Day 1: Depart from Sapa – Climb from Tram Ton – Camp overnight at an altitude of 2,800m.
- Day 2: Climb Fansipan peak – Check-in – Descend the mountain and return to Sapa.
1-day cable car itinerary
- Morning: Travel from Sapa to Fansipan cable car station.
- Noon: Go to Fansipan peak, check-in, visit the highlights.
- Afternoon: Return to Sapa, explore the town.
