Where is Khuoi Ky Stone Village?
Khuoi Ky stone village is more than 400 years old with more than 100 households of the Tay ethnic group. The village is located in Dam Thuy commune, Trung Khanh district, Cao Bang province, Vietnam. This place is located within the tourist complex of Ban Gioc waterfall and Nguom Ngao cave within 3km. About 100km from Cao Bang city center.
The Unique of Khuoi Ky Stone Village
The stilt houses here are made of stone and covered with yin and yang tiles. The house has 3 main compartments, each compartment is divided by a wooden frame for convenient living. The house’s foundation is made of crushed stone, and the base of the column is also made of stone. The house has its back against the mountain, facing the Khuoi Ky stream. There are stone-floored houses dating from around 1594-1677, still retaining their pristine beauty, creating an ancient look. For the Tay people, stilt houses are a sacred thing, storing many cultural and spiritual values of the people here. The Tay ethnic people have a traditional belief in stone worship, stones are embedded in all aspects of daily life, and are used to build houses, dams, and mills.
